I recently installed Blender 2.72, I did have the version supplied by synaptic but was having a few problems with it so was advised to install the latest version which I downloaded from the Blender site.
As the file is an executable I just dropped into my home folder, added a launcher to the desktop and got to work. Everything is working fine with Blender. There's no listing for it in the menu but I'm fairly sure this is due to the way I installed it. So my question is, is this an okay way to have installed the programme or should I have place it somewhere in the file system? I did find a few items online about running terminal commands to integrate it into the system but I thought I would check in here first before altering the current set-up.
